Best shop in Virginia. I have been a customer since 2006. First, he fixed my old truck and the questionable install that was done by someone else in NY. Now he has done my new truck with tint, remote start, and automatic locks. Work truck and it didn't come factory with locks. I wouldn't dare use anyone else.

Scammers get quotes before you choose. I purchased an Alipine head unit for my car. I watched 3 videos on YouTube on installation bc I was thinking of installing it myself but thought it may be better to take it to a pro. On all 3 videos they said it was plug and play and everything came in the box for my exact car. When I came to safe and sound they started add all these wires and what not. I told them on the videos it was plug and play and the guy was like what the heck does plug and play mean? We have to order all these extras etc etc. I got it installed here but feeling a bit skeptical I called Alpine and they told me it was plug and play and that everything should have come in the box minus a couple things.

I had an Alpine i509-WRA-JK installed in a Jeep JKU in January. I went to Safe&Sound because the previous owner had most of the jeep mods done there (entire sound system and lights). Initially wanted a new head unit upgrade and tune of the amps.

The Head unit that was going to be installed had 2 available USBs and an AUX. I had requested that the USBs be brought out to the match the current config (one on the center console and 1 in the glove box to power an ipod classic).

The Good
Donnie and Jared were pretty friendly and helpful. Great recommendation for a head unit.

Could have been better
1 - Donnie is a bit of a “fast talker”, he needs to slow down a bit. No big deal, just a note to be aware of, especially when you receive the quote and close out to ensure what you asked for was actually done.

2 - While the installer was only there at this site for a day, I was told that it would potentially take 2 days, so I called for a ride home (45 min away). Ended up being ready late that day, so took the 2nd trip up to pick it up. When I did get there there was still work being done to finish the install, right up till closing. The head unit did arrive that morning.

3 – When I got there and was checking the install/getting shown what was done, I noticed that a USB was not brought out to the center console. No big deal, he brought the USB cable out and installed in the cigarette lighter location, vice the center console – total of a 15 min job. Donnie added an hour to the bill for the part and an hour install fee. I brought this to Donnie’s attention and he adjusted the price.

The aux was not extended out, I would need to return for that. The USB that was extended to the glove box apparently does not support iPOD classics, I will check with Alpine on a plan to support in the future.

4 – After a thorough sound checking (at home), I was getting vibrations from the subs in the back. I checked and both brackets on both sides were not connected to the frame of the jeep. While at the shop I was told the screws were not long enough, and that they were stripped. I just did not realize that they were left disconnected from the frame of the jeep, causing the rattle. Turns out, aside from Safe and Sound being the original installers of the subs, the screws are the same size as the OEM. It is something I will have to get someone else to assist in fixing, apparently there are some parts to the mounts that are not there anymore – could have been lost in sale or changing out of hard top to soft top.

5 – It was dark, so I had not realized until after I left, the next day, that I was missing a 9in light bar cover from the front of the jeep (it was under the driver side seat). I called and let Donnie know. After significant back and forth on calls and texts, he offered to give me part of the cost of the replacement of the cover for an item I did not lose. I do not agree with after spending well over $4k, I was being offered $20, when it could have very easily been replaced.

6 – This is written a few months after the install, the mic for the radio was run through the top of the windshield and down the A Pillar. Cable is now dangling at the top driver side. No big deal, something I will have to fix on my own, but should be noted.
Donnie recommended an External Accessory Control Module (KAC-001) and we had that installed, but the software upgrade won’t be available till April time frame.

Bottom line, I will not be heading back for that work to be done with them, or the upgrades we talked about for the light bar.

I highly recommend Safe and Sound Mobile Electronics to anyone. They provide top notch customer service and installation. I will definitely use them again in the future if I decide to upgrade anything else on my car.

I inquired, through email, about getting Apple Car Play installed in my Lexus back in December 2020. Rich answered all of my questions and concerns with lightening speed about cost and how installation might impact the current features I already had in my car. The cost was very reasonable and installation wouldn't change the functionality of the features I already had.

I scheduled an appointment to have Car Play installed in January. Installation took two days. After the first day, I was called with an update about how installation was going and how much longer it would take. When I came to pick up my car, the person who installed Apple Car Play in my Lexus walked me through how all the different features worked before I drove away.

I have had Car Play in my Lexus for about 5 months now and it still works perfectly! Getting it installed by Safe and Sound was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am 100% satisfied with the work that Safe and Sound did. They are awesome!

Fantastic execution and attention to detail when installing a two-way system in my Mk7.5 GTI. The interior was completely gutted for sound deadening installation on the floors, doors and hatch in conjunction with the upgraded speaker, sub and amp installation. The lower decibel level of the interior when driving is unbelievable. Additionally, the lack of rattle from the subwoofer and the partially lessened sound leakage from the exterior is sublime.

Thank you to Jesse and Donnie for consistent updates on the build, and especially for completing the work earlier than scheduled. Definitely highly recommend safe and sound for their knowledge, service and care!

I went there to ask for a quote for the installation of the sound system in my van. At first, the guy spoke to me very quickly and in a very unfriendly manner. For this reason, I decided not to buy either the sound system or the technical service.

For things like this, I typically wait awhile before I write a review. I got my competition sound system installed a little over a year ago and the setup is top notch. Donnie was my point of contact and things were done timely. About 5-6 months in, one of my speakers blew and I called about it because it was still in warranty and Donnie handled it very professionally and there were no run arounds. Within a few days, I had a replacement installed and have been slapping ever since with no other issues. I’m pleased with the system and service overall. I would recommend safe and sound for anyone in the market.
