Can't speak for the quality of instruction as it's been many years since I took classes but after a remodel the facility is top notch. Modern, clean, well lit and containing what students need.

I always get alumni emails like I have ever graduated from anything I did quit smoking cigarettes 3 years May 1st I consider this my greatest achievement in life but I absolutely loved Rio Grande campus and Austin and I still do I wish I had had the mental stability to keep it up cuz I totally lost my GI Bill for not using it LOL God bless all you graduates and especially all you teachers

I attended ACC right after graduating from high school. I spoke with an advisor at the ACC Rio Grande campus in 2017. I told her that I planned on attending UT Austin. She scoffed when I made that comment and said that I had to be more realistic with the schools I intended on transferring to. She lectured me that I was not UT material and that I would have virtually zero chance of being accepted into UT. It was one of the most humiliating conversations I have ever had.

On a separate occasion, I had to have my documents sent over from ACC to UT. I spoke with several people who assured me that everything had been taken care of. Despite having a 4.0 and a good resume for someone my age, UT rejected me. I drove over to the admissions office at UT to inquire about why I had been rejected and they informed me that they were missing paperwork from ACC. I was hopeful that I still had a shot of being accepted into my dream school but frustrated that ACC staff had assured me everything was taken care of. I drove down to the Rio Grande office and received the necessary paperwork. With only hours to spare before the final admissions deadline, I delivered the required paperwork in person since I could not rely on ACC. A couple of weeks later I was informed that I had been accepted into UT. Had I not inquired about why I was rejected which was ACC's fault, I never would have gone to UT.

5 years later and I graduated from UT with 2 majors and a certificate. Upon graduating from UT I enrolled and was accepted into a master's program where I have just completed my first year. I am thankful for my time at ACC and for the amazing faculty, students, and staff that I met. I believe ACC properly prepared me to excel at UT. I believe that the way in which the ACC advisor that I spoke with talked with me was extremely unprofessional and that her comments would dissuade most students from pursuing their dream school and dream major. ACC students trust the advice their advisors offer and advisors should be more careful with their words and be supportive of students. ACC should also ensure that its records department properly submits any necessary information to universities to which students are applying. I believe that I was not the first student that ACC did not properly send all the correct documents to another institution nor do I believe I will be the last. Most students would not inquire about why they were rejected which can cause lifelong negative repercussions on an individual's self-esteem and career opportunities.

I'm really surprised and disappointed at the lack of evening and weekend courses available for a community college. I took just one course which really didn't work for my schedule at all, I ended up dropping as it was really so difficult to manage. The professor also was not very good, although a very nice guy, he struggled to stay on task, follow through, or explain concepts differently. I wish administration would put more emphasis on the schedule for credit courses for working adults. This may not be the forum for this comment but I hope someone sees it, anyways.

Just had an amazing experience with my new advisor Ellie Hernandez in the IT department. I've had previous horrible experiences with advisors who have no idea what they are doing and wasted my time taking courses that have nothing to do with the field I'm interested. Today, that WAS NOT the case. I couldn't be more thrilled with all the knowledge she had and I'm so excited to start my degree with the correct classes. She knows what she's talking about and basically planned my semesters with me so that I stay on track to finish my associates in 2020. If you are interested in an IT career, Ellie Hernandez is who you need to go see!

TERRIBLE ADVISORS, NO PROFESSIONALISM the advisors expect you to evaluate your own transfer credits, start taking classes before they will tell you what transfers over, then meet with the dean outlining your own findings on what credits might transfer over. They are so unprofessional and have limited knowledge. Nothing is more irritating than trying to get information and someone checking their phone. That's a great way to drive people to other schools. I wonder if any of them even graduated college.

Great experience overall. High-quality education. Caring faculty overall. Some students do not care about learning or their grades as is to be expected. They have WONDERFUL tutoring available 7 days a week and free (included with tuition). You can get help in almost any subject. Great libraries, computer labs, and tutoring labs. ACC wants students to succeed. Great value for your money as well compared to UT, St. Edward's, Texas State, Concordia, Houston-Tillotson, Southwestern, and other area colleges and universities...in some cases it is 10% of the cost of tuition of other area schools. Really cannot beat ACC...some professors are better than others as is to be expected but there are plenty of good ones. I found the staff to be extremely helpful...my one complaint is that one advisor one time placed me in a math class during a time of day that was horrible for me given my math disability and PTSD disability...should have been placed in Statistics during the day rather than Algebra at night. He really should have noticed my needs. So I had to drop the class. Other than that I have had a near-perfect experience.

What a joke!!!!!!! My daughter enrolled and received a pell grant. The school messed up her schedule and gave her a lot of classes that weren’t covered by the pell grant so she called and asked them to fix it so she was only in classes that were covered. They changed her schedule and said it would all be covered by the grants. First day of class the grant money is held up because of the dropped classes and advisors say it’s fine they’ll all be covered. First day she can’t sign in to any classes because they said she didn’t pay in full. The advisors said it’d all be covered once the grant money came back into the acct. and she’d be able to get into online classes. Never happened. She wasn’t able to attend any classes because they never let her sign in. Call after call to the school and same story. It’ll be covered and she’ll be able to attend online classes. Never happened. Now the school wants her to pay $3000 for classes she couldn’t get into because they messed up her schedule and never even let her get into online classes. They take no responsibility for their mistakes and now are ruining a young girls dreams to attend college and better her life. This is so wrong In every way. How do you charge $3000 when you didn’t even allow her to attend one day of school? She didn’t drop the classes. She wasn’t ever able to sign in due to their errors and inability to correct the issues.
