Superb experience from start to finish, I have brought 2 x watches so far (see attached) from them recently and I am utterly impressed with the quality & service. I delt with Claire both times on both purchases, the second purchase she actually personally sourced for me, she's fanatastic and very knowledgeable in this field if you have questions. I highly recommend James Porter & Son. Regards, Peter

I bought a GS couple of months ago from James Porter & Son. I can tell they really care for their customers, they really did the extra step to hand over the watch in the country I live. Plus some watch boxes that are not cheap!

It was the only watch shop that knew the exact number of the limited edition I could get before I order it. Everyone else told me that the number is random.

That was a great first experience. My next GS will be definitely from them. I highly recommend them.

Not at all impressed.

Purchased a watch for my son's 18th birthday online for store pick up, we went to store had a quick look at the watch (I mean why wouldn't I trust them?) and headed home.

Later it dawned on me that it was in a generic Porter branded box and not a Bering box so I got it out for another look.

Well then, take a look at the photo's, sticky residue from price sticker on the back, scraped paint on the back of the strap clip, smudged glass and of course no Bering box so no ancillary items either.

I'm sure if it had been a 5 grand Rolex and not a watch worth just £179 then more care would have been taken but that's my opinion and Allan from James Porter & Son was very apologetic.

However it has spoiled what was an exciting time buying for a sons landmark age and we had planned on spending a significant amount of money for my other sons 21st birthday watch but that won't be happening now and we certainly won't be back.

For the record, by their own admission James Porter & Son only carry one of each watch so what you get will be the watch from the window and if it has no original box then be warned because they won't order one in it seems, you have to wonder do they lose the Rolex boxes, who knows?

My advice if you are thinking about going to James Porter & Son is to very very carefully inspect whatever watch they hand over before leaving the shop as you may not get the complete package.

The 2 stars are because Allan offered to personally help us procure another watch but the buzz was gone and we can only be thankful that we never presented it to our son and been mortified at the outcome.

I Do Not recommend this jewellers and will not be dealing with them again.
I purchased a frederique constant watch from James porter and sons on 01/04/23 all went well and they even hounoured my price match, it wasnt until i required a repair. Within a few weeks of purchasing the watch i noticed that the date-wheel started to run slow while the time kept accurately.

I handed the watch back in-store for the repair to be carried out and was told it could be up to 8 weeks until the store received the watch back from the manufacturer. I was told that when the watch was back at the store i would be contacted to collect it. 8 weeks then passed and, having heard nothing, i contacted the store to be told by the person on the phone that they could see no record of our watch being sent back. As you can imagine i was displeased by this but gave time for the store to find out where my watch was. I was eventually contacted within 2 weeks to say the watch was back in-store.

I then paid £8.50 to have the watch sent to my home address the next day. I had not received the parcel the next day and, after a lot of back and forth between Royal Mail and the store, it was established that the store had written down my address as number 1 on my street. I sent an email clearly stating that my house number is 11. Royal Mail had attempted to deliver the watch to the WRONG house. The store then apologised and said that they would have Royal Mail send the watch back to the store to be resent. Several days passed and my wife had a suspicion that this had not been done. She decided to go to the post office and, sure enough, the watch was there and hadn't been sent back. This now came as no surprise to us given that there had already been issues before with your store. I felt very disappointed and angry and several family members urged me to complain. I decided to let it go since i had the watch back but maybe i should have complained. I'm sure you realise how close it came to the people at house #1 collecting our parcel. They could easily have the watch now and, as i don't know them, they could easily have denied receiving the watch if they are dishonest people.

Upon receiving the watch back we have noticed that the watch is still faulty. Not only is the pre-existing fault with the date-wheel still there, but now the watch hands are not keeping time. The watch is now in a WORSE condition than when we sent it in for repair. I spoke to the service centre and quoted the reference number. The woman on the phone said that a full service had been carried out and that many checks would have been done before the watch left the manufacturer to be returned to the store. She didn't seem to care much when i told her it was faulty. She just said to send it back in. I can't understand why this has all happened and it is clear no one at the store or service centre can't either. The whole thing has been a farce to be honest. I now have no faith in either the manufacturer, seller or the service.
I was told by the store that they do not accept refunds however I found out online that if I bought the watch within 6 months that I was entitled to a full refund , I told the store this and went the next day and got my refund.
My wife is very upset and disappointed as it was her 30th birthday present but we felt there was no other option but to return it as it is possible that this could happen again.

Normally I do not leave comments, but the service provided by this company is outstanding, and the watch is beautiful. I can understand why the feedback is so strong for this retailer. Many thanks to the team!

I dealt with Simon over a few weeks while buying a watch. He was responsive to communications and a pleasure to deal with. I'm by no means local to the store, but it was a pleasurable transaction and I have no hesitation in recommending this Simon and James Porter.
