I visited O.C. Tanner today to explore some Rolex watches, and Cathy was a pleasure to work with. She took the time to get to know me and understand what I was interested in. She educated me on the different features and use cases of multiple models and allowed me to try on a few. I look forward to becoming part of the community and would highly recommend O.C. Tanner for any jewelry purchases. A++ customer experience!

O.C. Tanner has earned my respect and adoration for their professionalism, excellent customer service, and unbelievable depth of knowledge. John has been the best advisor and guidance counselor for me as I’ve learned about high horology and picked up a few pieces that match my lifestyle & personality. He’s done the same for my wife. We are customers for life.

Inquired about a necklace online and Whitney responded via text.

It wasn’t a super expensive piece compared to some of the other stuff they stock, but Whitney took great care of me and made sure all my needs were met.

Great experience, and I look forward to returning in the future.

I rarely write negative reviews, but this one is quite deserving because of the basic lack of treating every person that walks through their door with respect and like a potential sale. About 4 weeks ago, my son was in town visiting from Texas and we were looking for a few different watches. He is a very proud disabled Navy veteran that sacrificed for his country, for what he believes in, and was most deserving of the gift I had planned to purchase for him and his incredibly journey. The specific reason we were looking for watches this day is that he is graduating from Johns Hopkins with a double Master's degree and the watch that I was going to purchase, with cash, was to be a graduation gift. We were out having fun all day and were dressed in street clothes when we walked in O.C. Tanner jewelry. To my surprise and incredible disappointment, we were not greeted, welcomed, or even acknowledged. My son was so excited to look at the watches at O.C. Tanner that he took initiative, when he realized we were being snubbed, and approached a floor person and began speaking about the watches. My son spoke in an educated manner, was respectful to your staff, was wearing an Omega, and clearly was knowledgeable about your products (which should have been an indication that he was seriously interested in a potential purchase/had the ability to own one of your products). Instead of showing my son what you DO have in stock he was told that they could put him on a wait list. When he asked to look at what they have on site, we were told that the sales people were busy and could not help him and it could be 45 minutes to an hour before anyone could even speak to him.
When he asked about if OC Tanner accepted trade ins, (because he wanted to look at what Rolex's were actually in stock at the store) he was told no. We went to the 2nd floor as we were waiting the 45 minutes (no offer of drink, snack, suggested waiting area, etc.) and there is a case with pre-owned watches. Not only was he/I treated like we were non-deserving of spending our money in OC Tanner, we were lied to and treated like we were less than. My advice to you and your staff is that a little bit of kindness goes a very long way. Someone that cannot afford to purchase wouldn't have wasted more then 3-5 minutes of your staff's time. I hope that at some point you inform your staff that not everyone that has money dresses to impress to go spend their money. Many times people that have the money to spend will simply stop in and make a large purchase regardless of what they have planned that day, simply because they are incredibly busy people and your store is in the line of sight for their activities that day. When a customer has a positive experience in a store they will tell 1-2 people about their experience. When a customer has a negative experience they will tell a minimum of 12 people. Think about that and the impact the small act of kindness and courtesy has on your business. How you make people feel, matters.
Needless to say, we left the store without engaging with any actual sales staff. We did have a lovely discussion with the SLC police officer on the 2nd floor, although he was not one of your employees, so not exactly surprised he was pleasant. The point is, I was so irritated that your staff would treat my son, a disabled veteran, and a professional, the way your staff did that I went home and got online and started making calls. He is out in MN now picking up his new Rolex and an Omega from a dealer who not only has been beyond pleasant to us, but they actually had watches in stock and he did not have to wait 6-12 months. Big Mistake...Do better my friends, all of your customers are most deserving of your effort. If the owner actually reads this, I strongly advise you to get a few secret shoppers into this location to get a full view of what is happening at the customer level, don't sacrifice your financial well being for a few under performing employees, they are replaceable, your customers are not.
